Kilimanjaro Shira Route
SHIRA ROUTE is rarely used due to its isolated position, between 2 and 3 hours drive from Moshi. Starting from West Kilimanjaro, there is the added bonus of encountering large game during the first day’s walk necessitating the need for an armed ranger on this day. We recommend this route for its isolation as the chances of seeing anyone else over the first four days are rare and the longer time it gives you for acclimatization.
