Food On the Mountains
Our menus are well considered for climbers to get enough nutrients to make it to the summit and you can request any type of menu if you have special requirements, before a climb - even if you aren't a vegetarian. Just imagine having a birthday cake during the climb, even in Christmas, or New Years at the top of Kilimanjaro! Come with us to enjoy the authentic experience.
Summit 2 Sand Safaris has experienced mountain chefs who prepare delicious and palatable food, especially prepared to suite your health, in order to ensure your success in any summit of any mountain in Tanzania, especially the 'Roof of Africa' - Mount Kilimanjaro.
The human body develops a tendency of losing appetite in high altitudes, thus one should force him/herself to eat and drink as much as he/she can to keep the body fit. Good food and plenty of drinking water are essential ingredients, both physically and psychologically, in order to make your climb rewarding and enjoyable. At high altitudes, drinking a lot of water is essential for your health and helps prevent altitude sicknesses to a certain extent.
Please let us know in advance if there is any special dietary request(s) i.e. vegetarian preference. We are happy to cater for all our clients needs, especially dietary requests - as food is fuel for the human body. Fruits are always added in our menus and at the highest quality, and our staff maintains the use of fresh fruits of the season.
Our mountain cuisine normally includes the following: (Three healthy prepared meals a day - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.)
We use cool boxes to keep our foods fresh/cool especially special foods like dried fruits, chocolates and cheeses, throughout the trekking period.
